Developing the Vocational Skills of Over 70,000 Learners a Year

Welcome to the website for the seven Colleges in the Black Country.

The site is a 'shop window' for the collective contribution the colleges make to the Black Country region, the West Midlands and further afield, as well as being a portal to the websites of the individual colleges.

"Total spending by the colleges, students and skilled former learners in the workplace contribute £700 million a year to the regional economy.*"

*EMSI report

Our partnership comprises the City of Wolverhampton College, Dudley College, Halesowen College, King Edward VI College, Sandwell College, Stourbridge College and Walsall College.

Together we are responsible for developing the vocational education and skills of more than 70,000 full and part-time learners a year, increasing their opportunities for successful employment as well as their long-term earning potential.

We employ over 3,500 staff and our activities are a major driver for economic growth in the Black Country, Birmingham and South Staffordshire.

But our input into the economic and social well-being of the region does not stop at the colleges' boundaries.

Independent research shows the Black Country, Birmingham and South Staffordshire workforce currently employs people with a total of well over 440,000 qualifications achieved through studying at the Colleges in the Black Country.

And our significant role in supporting the region's businesses goes further.  We provide comprehensive training programmes and work with a range of other agencies to offer employers an unprecedented resource that helps them improve the skills of those they employ.

Together the seven Colleges in the Black Country are a major player in the region, providing education and employment, helping young people achieve their potential, raising the workforce skill base, empowering industry and commerce and stimulating the local economy.
